Overview

Define what you need to understand.

Material testing begins with identifying the material and the requirement it needs to meet. A project specification, proposed use or quality concern helps determine which parameters should be investigated.

SRS's material-testing scope covers the mechanical and chemical material groups below. The individual test schedule, sample requirements and reporting scope are confirmed for the assignment. We do not assume that every material needs the same set of tests.

Scope to discuss

Material groups and testing scope.

These are material groups, not a universal test schedule. Share the project specification so the individual methods, required parameters and sample arrangements can be confirmed before sampling.

Mechanical testing: material groups

  • Cementitious materials
  • Aggregates
  • Steel products
  • Blocks and masonry
  • Grouts, mortars and plaster

Chemical testing: material groups

  • Cementitious materials
  • Admixtures and construction water
  • Steel and reinforcement
  • Aggregates and plaster

Where it is used

Put the investigation in context.

  • Material acceptance and construction quality-control requirements
  • Investigations into a material-related concern
  • Checks against the parameters in a project specification
  • Supporting documentation for discussion with the project consultant

Questions before you enquire

A little more clarity.

These answers are a starting point. The scope of an assignment is agreed around your project.

Which individual tests should I request?

Start with the material, its proposed use and the specification or concern you need to address. The exact test schedule is confirmed with you; the material groups listed here do not mean every possible test is automatically included.

How much material should I send?

Sample quantities and preparation depend on the selected methods and material. Please discuss the scope before sending samples so identification, quantity and handling requirements can be agreed.

Can I request mechanical and chemical testing together?

You can discuss both requirements in the same enquiry. The relevant methods, sample arrangements and reporting requirements are then defined for the materials and project specification.

What should be included with my enquiry?

Include the site location, material type, project stage and the parameters or specification you are working to. If the requirement is still being defined, explain the question you need the testing to address.

Your site. Your requirements.

Let’s discuss the scope for your project.

We discuss assignments across Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Haryana, Gujarat.

Site access, scheduling, method suitability and availability are confirmed for the agreed work.
